Celebrating Women of An Uncertain Age
Kudos for the production:
“This show was an invitation to experience challenges not as obstacles which hamper us, but as opportunities which lead us to cultivate bravery and patience”
“I was blown away by it. It was tight and intimate, generous, all encompassing, personal, thoughtful, funny and instructive. Many of the stories resonated with my personal experiences, particularly caring for aging parents. I left the theatre feeling like I was friends with each of the performers…”
“I felt seen and validated in a way I’ve never felt… Thank you for all the work and tears and heartache you put into making this, for bringing up memories, feelings, thoughts, tears and laughter. …today I felt loved for being me. I got to see that it’s okay the pain doesn’t go away right now. My heart needed this so much.”
“From end to end, it was exquisitely crafted. Bravo!”
“The music was amazing. It fit so perfectly for the various moods/expressions. And that amazing piece of long, wispy, red fabric… was it a reference to blood, and menstruation? I loved how poignantly and sometimes approprately shockingly it was woven into the work.”
“The show is wonderful. The stories, the staging, the lighting and soundscape - all so well done.”
Four women tell their beautiful and terrible truths of navigating the elusive joys, rising heartbreaks and bewilderments of aging. An interactive and authentic exploration with movement that isn’t as serious as it sounds, until it is. The stakes are high for caregivers with compassion fatigue, daughters learning to nurture their parents, and women losing and finding their voices. Each performance will differ as audiences join the action and explore interconnection, the demands of the world around us, and the reality of needing care while giving care.
Looking back at building the show…
